Connecting Generations: LGBT+ People of Faith

A very successful first event for GLIN on 12 November, with 26 people attending our Connecting Generations: LGBT+ People of Faith event at the Unitarian Church on Berkeley Street.

This was a storytelling event: we had asked for submissions touching on one's faith, sexuality/gender, and Interfaith Week's theme of connecting generations. We received 10 submissions, amongst them poems, letters, narratives, a zine and an artwork. Seven submissions were read aloud; the remainder were on display during the evening.

Scott Chase served as MC for the evening, which consisted of an introduction to GLIN and our planning group; formal readings and display of the submissions; a breakout session with informal chat, small group discussions, and haiku writing; and ending with a large group discusssion.

Derek Read led us in a traditional Quaker round to close out the evening; this should perhaps be the Interfaith theme song!

Building bridges between our divisions I reach out to you, as you reach out to me With all of our voices and all of our visions together we could make such sweet harmony

Many thanks all who helped getting GLIN off its feet and planning this event, especially Emily Brown for arranging use of the Unitarian Church.

The stories told at this event can be read on the page Your Stories.
